Birchbox - March

I received my Birchbox in the mail last Friday. I love getting packages in the mail, and it's even more fun when you have no idea what you are going to get. I thought it would be fun to show you what I got in my box, just like I did last month.

This month's theme was "Spring Training."

1. Color Club Nail Lacquer - Age of Aquarius

       Brighten blah nails with this on-trend, '60's-inspired green polish.

*I have tried this already, and I love the color! I am already thinking about ordering the full size.

 2. Harvey Prince - Ageless

        Most scents just smell pretty, but this one is designed to make you feel more youthful.

*I haven't worn this yet, so I might change my mind, but just going by the smell, I don't think that this will be a scent that I like.

3. Lulu Organics - Lavender + Clary Sage Hair Powder

       Revive flat locks by sprinkling this lavender-scented organic dry shampoo onto your roots.


4. One Love Organics - Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm

        This all-natural two-in-one cleanser and moisturizer is completely free of fillers, which means it's extra concentrated and extra effective.

That's it for this month's Birchbox post. I enjoyed this box more than my first. I felt like the things in this box were things I would actually like to use, or at least try.

I felt like last month's box had stuff that I would try just for fun since they gave it to me, but they weren't products I was actually interested in.

It makes me wonder what they will send me next month.

5 on Friday- Week in Review

1. Monday 

My week started early Monday morning at the gym. I'm slowly getting into the habit of going to the gym. I hate getting out of bed so early, but I'm always glad that I did.

Also, I am excited to have these in the house this week...

Forget what I said about the gym, these have been the highlight of my week. SO GOOD!


2. Tuesday

I opened the windows for the first time this year on Tuesday. The weather has been amazing this week.

I also lit my First Bloom candle from Bath and Body Works for the first time.

3. Wednesday

It was back to the gym on Wednesday morning.

I received a couple of books that I had ordered from Amazon. These are books that I had read as a kid and have been looking for for years, but they aren't in print any more. After looking through every used book store, I just decided it was easier to order them from Amazon. I'm pretty sure that shipping was cheaper than all the gas used going to different stores.

4. Thursday

I finally received my Panem I.D. card in the mail. I have been waiting for this thing for weeks!

Is anybody else excited for The Hunger Games movie?

I also went to lunch with Nicole. We went to Chapala's, which is becoming our favorite spot for lunch.

5. Friday

I went to the gym again this morning. This was the first time I actually made it 3 times in one week even though that has always been the plan.

I used my twilight bath bomb from Lush today. My bathroom smells great now and so do I!

I should be getting my March Birchbox in the mail today. If so, that means that I will probably have a post about it sometime next week.

Lush Haul

It is quickly becoming a Thursday for my friend and I to go to Lush.

At first we went to "just look around."

Then, it very quickly escalated into trying bath bombs, facial cleanser, and shampoo.

I thought it would be fun to quickly share what I bought yesterday.

I have a feeling this won't be last Lush post on this blog. I am loving this store!

1. Bath Bombs

It wasn't easy, but I was able to narrow it down to 3 bath bombs that I wanted to try. (I have a feeling that I will be trying the others soon enough.)

- Dragon's Egg

Lemon oil has an uplifting aroma and is toning and refreshing for the skin.

- Twilight

Lavender acts as nature's melatonin to relax your mind for a more restful sleep.

- Sakura

Mimosa flowers yield an intense floral fragrance and sea salt is added for it's soothing effects on the skin.

2. Facial Cleanser

I picked up one for me and one that I thought that my husband might like to try.

- Angels on Bare Skin

A gentle, lavender based scrub that is suitable for all skin types.


- Dark Angels

A velvety cleanser, sprinkled with black sugar and powdered charcoal to gently exfoliate and cleanse away excess oils.

3. Fresh Face Mask

- Catastrophe Cosmetic

A mixture of blueberries, calamine powder, and rose to keep your skin happy and comfortable.


4. Samples

The lady at Lush was nice enough to send me home with some samples when I asked about the Big Shampoo. She also sent me home with 2 different conditioners so I could decide which one I like better. I have been wanting to try the Big Shampoo, so I was pretty excited about getting a sample.

- Big (shampoo)

Contains sea salt to degrease and volumize hair, and lime and lemon juice to add extra shine.

- Veganese (conditioner)

Contains seaweed to soften hair, lavender and rosemary to soothe easily irritated scalps, and fresh lemon juice to add shine.

- American Cream (conditioner)

Great for hair that needs extra moisture. A blend of strawberries, oranges, and sage leave hair full of shine and smelling good.

Birchbox - February

Last week, I mentioned that I had joined Birchbox. (It is a monthly subscription service. You pay $10 a month, and every month you get a box in the mail with 4-5 deluxe beauty samples.)

I joined Birchbox because I thought it would be a good way for me to try new products without having to spend a lot of money.

Anyways, I got my very first box last week, and I'm excited to show you what I got.

Every month you will get a card that talks about the theme for that month. Since this was my first box, I just got a "welcome" card.

When I opened the tissue paper, this is what I saw:

I love that there is a smaller package to open inside the box. It really does feel like you are getting to open a gift.

Now I will just go through what I received in my box. I will just give you the description that they gave me of each product.

1. Juicy Couture - Viva La Juicy

This scent will bring out your inner girly girl. Wild berries flirt with mandarin and soft floral notes to create a fragrance that's fun and happy.

2. Eye Rock - Designer Liner

Stop wrestling with the liquid liner and achieve a perfect cat eye with these single-use stick-on liner strips. 

3. Digital Download - Green River Ordinance

Six free tunes (I actually got seven) from Green River Ordinance, an indie rock band poised to hit the spotlight.

4. Jouer - Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink

We teamed up with Jouer to create this custom fuchsia shade. Wear one coat for semi-sheer pigment or layer it for a bright pink pucker.

5. Showstoppers - Designer Fashion Tape

Celeb stylists swear by these double-sided tape strips, which will ensure that your attire stays perfectly in place.

6. Colorescience Pro - glow and go Travel Puff

Ulta Haul

Last Thursday, I was able to spend the day with my friend.

After an awesome lunch, we made a trip to Ulta.

I have been trying to try out new beauty products so that I can find what really works for me.

I bought a few new things to try.

1. Eye Crayons - The darker one is Fairytale and the lighter one is Birthday Girl.

I've worn them a couple times and I really like them. They are a little light when you put them on, but I don't mind that.

2. Bronzer - I used just a little this weekend and it worked fine. I'm sure I will like it when I get the chance to use it a little more.

Then, because I spent more than $17.50, I got all of this stuff for free.

1. Eye Shadow

I haven't used these yet, but the colors seem like ones that I will enjoy.

2.  3 Brushes

I used the bigger brush for my bronzer and it worked just fine. It's definitely not a great quality brush, but it does get the job done.

3. Blush - Sweet Cheeks

I haven't used this yet, but it looks like it will be a great color for me.

4. Eyeliner - Black, Raisin, Plum, Deep Brown

I tried to use the Plum, but it didn't really show up very well for me. I ended up just using my usual Cover Girl eyeliner instead.

5. Mascara - Jet Black

This was okay, although I didn't notice any extra volume. I don't think it did any better than my Cover Girl mascara. I did, however, like the smaller brush and I think it worked well for my lower eyelashes.

6. Lip Gloss - Princess, Mischief

This is just lip gloss. It works just fine.

7. Lipstick - 211

For as dark as it is, the color doesn't really show up that well. (That's good because I didn't care for the color when I first saw it.) I think that this lipstick just feels cheap when I put it on. I definitely won't be buying it, but since I got it for free, I might wear it every now and then.

8. Nail Polish - The Jungle Look

I tried this nail polish, and it is very watery. I'm not sure if 10 coats would have been enough. I wiped it off and went back to my O.P.I. nail polish.

9. Makeup Bag

I love this bag. Who can complain about a free makeup bag? It's super cute and it can hold quite a bit. It will be perfect for holding all the new makeup I will be trying out.

Random Five on Friday

1. We had our first real snowfall of the year on Monday. We got maybe 2 inches. It was all gone by the next day.

2. All my tests from my doctor have come back normal, so that is good news. Now I am trying out an inhaler for a couple weeks to see if it will help me....you know....breathe.

3. I signed up for Birchbox earlier this month. I should be getting my first box in the mail today, so I will try and have a post up about what I got sometime next week.

4. I went to Cheddar's for lunch yesterday. It was so good! I am already ready to go back.

5. I bought a new cup last week and I really love it. I've been drinking a lot more water since I got it. I fill it up at least 4 or 5 times a day.

Quick Blog Update

I am sorry that I have been missing lately.

I have been dealing with some health issues lately that have caused me to fall behind on my blog.

Now that I am starting to feel better, the first thing I want to do is get back on track with this blog. I have missed writing here.

I am hoping for posting to be back to normal by next week.
